It is June, bringing with it youth month. Our future, our tomorrow have to struggle through a flawed and unequal schooling system, high tertiary education cost and providers taking advantage of the poor environment our youth is in.
But there are always a glimmer of hope in the eyes of our youth.
All companies are happy about the 4 month SDL holiday, that is affective from 1 May 2020. Any company having an annual payroll of R500 000 or more, have to, as per legislation, pay Skills Development Levies over to SARS. This tax is 1% of the payroll and gets paid over to SARS with UIF and PAYE payments to SARS.
Here we go, my first blog, not only out of bed on a Sunday morning but also during a lockdown with very uncertain future in the labour market, especially around transformation and skills development.
